Fanamby manages about 600 000 hectares of protected areas including four harmonious landscapes and one natural monument. Thus, its main action is to protect and maintain the integrity of forests' corridor from any pressures.
To do so, Fanamby promotes local good governance by empowering local communities and raise awareness about the worth of their own wealth, their natural capital. In fact, Fanamby supports local ecological monitoring and partner with authorities to patrol within the protected areas in order to achieve healthy forests. The later not only enable the improvement of species' population but also the health of the quality of soil and water that are mainly used by 95% of the Malagasy people.
Fanamby and its partners share the view that biodiversity conservation can only happen through local communities engagement in the protection of the forests.
This approach is measured by the management effectiveness tracking tools.
